i’m a gilmore girl
I spent the entire day doing nothing and feeling lousy but my mum came home and my day was instantly brightened. I wasn’t hungry until she made some pasta then all of sudden I could eat. We sat down and went over our days, danced in the kitchen to Luther Vandross, scoffed our pasta discussing whosit and whatsit and wheresit. Then our nightly ritual began, her sat on her side and me on mine, both snuggled under our blankets with our hands nested over our mugs. Steam tickling our faces. I decided, that although the leaves have not yet begun to turn, and it’s unseasonably and concernadly warm outside… Netflix is calling for me to put on THE SHOW.
so is it too early for a girl to get a little autumnal??
My Mum protested that its too early in the year but the remotes on my side, so I win! As we got started on one of our favourite comfort shows I realised, OMG! Me and my Mum are frigging Gilmore girls. In their dysfuntions, the Lorelai duo mirror my Mother and I. There is no joy that I can say as a comparison point to living with my Mum. I have kinda only ever been in feminine spaces and they were the happiest years of my life, having gone to an all girls school and being raised by my Mum and Nana. There is nothing more important to me than the mystical magical connection of women! I had a dream that stuck with me really poignantly, where I was surrounded by girls I haven’t seen since my youngest years, we were all sat outside my house bathed in sunlight and laughing. It created the most beautiful cocophanous angelic sound… girls laughing together. I guess that’s the closest I can describe what it feels like to live with my favourite woman and best friend, and thats how it feels to watch the Gilmore girls.
Anyways, blah blah blah, I love women and I wouldn’t trade being a girl for anything in the world. It’s the greatest gift only paralleled to being able to experience girlhood and womanhood alongside my Mummy.
Signing off for the evening,
